CST 334 - Week 7

 Persistence

This week's lectures discussed the different ways a system persistently stores data. This allows data and system settings to be saved and restored in devices other than main memory. We began with I/O devices, which include Hard Drive Disks. Then how Disks can be configured and managed by a RAID controller to improve performance, storage size, or reliability/redundancy. Afterwards, we went into further details of how a disk keeps track of the data stored in files and finally how Linux implements it's file storage system.
